Mineralogical AnalysisWe offer a wide range of mineralogical testing most of which is accredited under ISO 17025:2005. Mineralogical analysis is utilised by a wide range of industries, providing quantitative and qualitative information; it provides identification of mineral compounds.Material properties are controlled by the properties of the constituents and the mineralogical form of these components or phases can be critical. A range of techniques are available, that can be utilised for mineralogical identification, such as X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and optical and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Information gained relates to specific phases and can distinguish compounds of the same chemical formula but different crystal structures. Determination may be either qualitative phase identification or quantitative. Other information such as cell parameters and crystallite sizes can be obtained. Analyses are often complimentary to other analytical techniques such as chemical, XRF or thermal analysis. Typical applications include:
